Legal Experience
2010 to the Present. Village Prosecutor for the Village of Irvington
1993 to the Present. Law Partner – Meyer & Spencer PC, a general practice firm with offices in Chappaqua, NY and Mahopac, NY. My legal practice areas include:
Probate/Trust & Estates/Elder Law – Among my current clients, I represent the Westchester County Public Administrator in Administration proceedings. I also assist the Court in Guardianship matters as a Court appointed Court Examiner and Court Evaluator for Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law. I have been advising clients in connection with their estates and estate planning needs since 1993. Our Estate Planning clients have a wide range of concerns and legal needs from simple Last Will and Testament or Revocable Living Trust to more complex tax planning and savings techniques. All of our clients are advised to utilize Living Wills and Health Care Proxies.
Real Estate – One of my primary practice areas is Real Estate. My real estate clients span a broad spectrum. I have represented both buyers and sellers of residential real estate, including 2 to 4 family dwellings. I have helped our commercial real estate clients buy and sell their commercial properties. I have serviced accounts and rendered closing services for approximately 30 different institutional lenders. Our firm has an extensive network of real estate agents, mortgage brokers, home inspectors and title representatives with whom we work.
Litigation – Since my admission to the Bar in January of 1992, I have handled a variety of litigated matters in Courts of this State. My criminal law experience started with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office where I interned for the Appeals Bureau. In private practice, I have appeared on criminal matters in the local courts, Westchester County Court, New York City Courts and Appellate Courts. I have also handled many litigated civil matters ranging from commercial litigation to matrimonial actions to contested estate matters to personal injury matters to boundary disputes.
Corporate Law – Counseling businesses is an important part of our practice. My clients have included all types of legal entities, including sole proprietors, partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies. Our business clients require counseling on matters ranging from start-up matters, to contract drafting and negotiation, to employment issues, to litigation, to debt collection problems. I have helped our corporate law clients purchase and sell existing businesses and establish brand new ventures. We have gained extensive experience negotiating and drafting of business contracts.
